Description
First minted in small quantities in 1982, the panda has become a very popular bullion coin. The obverse depicts the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, with the legend Ô PeopleÕs Republic of ChinaÕ in chinese characters at the top and with the date at the bottom of the coin.
The reverse panda design is changed every year ( with the exception of 2001 and 2002 which have the same design). The appealing design of the panda has made it a very desirable coin for both investors and collectors.
Face value 10 Yuan (1982-2000) 50 Yuan (2001 onwards)
From 2016, the weight system of troy ounces was replaced by metric gram weights. The 50 Yuan thus became 3 grams, making the troy weight 0.09645 troy ounce.
The Panda is also produced as a silver coin series.
