Napoleon III 1853-60 Obverse bare head, reverse laurel wreath surrounding the denomination and date
Napoleon III 1860 Ð 1870 Obverse – Laureate head, reverse a crowned shield with the arms of the Second French Empire of Napoleon III.
3rd Republic Ð 1871-1898 Obverse – Angel writing the constitution on a blank tablet with the Fasces, a symbol of authority of the Roman repulic to the left and a cockerel, the symbol of France, to the right. Reverse Ð the denomination and date set within a wreath.
3rd Republic Ð 1898 -1914 Obverse Marianne, the French national symbol and embodiment of liberty, equality and fraternity. Reverse – Rooster above the date
