From 2016, the weight system of troy ounces was replaced by metric gram weights. The 200 Yuan thus became 15 grams, making the troy weight 0.4822 troy ounce. It is produced in 24 carat gold.
The panda has become a very popular bullion coin, mainly because of the attractive design. The obverse depicts the Temple of Heaven with the legendÕ PeopleÕs Republic of ChinaÕ in chinese characters at the top and with the date at the bottom of the coin.The reverse panda design is changed every year ( with the exception of 2001 and 2002 which have the same design).
